Mustang Tiji Festival Trek

Upper Mustang conserving Tibetan Buddhist lifestyle, religion, art and culture is situated at north of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges surrounded by the Tibetan plateau on all sides expect the south. The Tenji (Tiji) festival is annual event celebrated by the indigenous people in lomanthang. Tenji festival is the abbreviated from of Tempachhirim (prayer for world peace) which is commonly pronounced as “Teeji”. The festival commemorates the victory of Buddha’s incarnation, Dhorjisonam over a demon called MA TAM RU TA, who was Waxman eater and caused storms and droughts to destroy people’s houses and livestock. Through the power of Tiji festival dances with other rituals, he was able to defeat the demons and thereby was able to bring peace and prosperity to the kingdom. During the Tiji festivals, the trails from the surrounding villages to Lo Manthang are packed with local people and allow mule caravans to participate and celebrate their most awaited annual festival. Thus, Mustang Tiji festival trek become a special holiday trip to Nepal Himalayas for trekkers around the world.

Itinerary:

Day 01:Arrival at Kathmandu, transfer from the airport to hotel.
Day 02:Kathmandu Sightseeing in Pashupatinath, Boudha and Swayambhunath,etc, apply for the permit and some preparation for the trek.
Day 03:Drive or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Day 04:Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and trek to Kagbeni(2810m), takes about 3-4 hours. Overnight in Kagbeni.
Day 05:Trek from Kagbeni to Chele(3050m), takes about 5-6 hours. Overnight in Chele.
Day 06:Trek from Chele to Syangbochen(3800m),takes about 6-7 hour.Overnight in Syangbochen.
Day 07:Trek from Syangbochen to Ghami(3510m), takes about 5-6 hours. Overnight in Ghami.
Day 08:Trek from Ghami to Charang(3560m), takes about 5-6 hours. Overnight in Charang.
Day 09:Trek from Charang to Lo-Manthang(3810m), takes about 5-6 hours. Beginning of Tiji festival.Overnight in Lo-Manthang.
Day 10:Lo-Manthang. Continuation of Tiji festival andexplore the place.
Day 11:Lo-Manthang. The last day of Tiji festival. Overnight in
Lo-Manthang.
Day 12:Trek from Lo- Manthang to Ghami(3765m), takes about 6-7 hours. Overnight in Ghami.
Day 13:Trek from Ghami to Chele(3050m), takes about 5-6 hours. Overnight in Chele.
Day 14:Trek from Chele to Jomsom(2720m), takes about 7-8 hours. Overnight in Jomsom.
Day 15:Fly or drive from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Day 16:Fly or drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Day 17:Departure from Kathmandu to your onward destination.

NOTE: The itinerary for this trek is always flexible i.e. the duration of this trek can be both increased and decreased as per the traveller’s schedule and length of the holidays. The Himalayan region of Nepal have unexpected challenges in health and natural conditions so the itinerary might be modified or changed as to fulfill the desires of the clients providing the best security.
As the flight schedules on Himalayan region are weather dependent, the time of the flight might be changed according to the weather forecasted.
