About Classice Everest Trek

Classic Everest Trekking certainly excites trekkers walking on original route to reach at world number base camp of Mt. Everest, where Himalaya Lungta Treks and Expeditions provides interested adventurer visiting both south and north of
Everest region.

Classic Everest Trekking almost forgotten trail seldom trekked by few visitors at present since the airport at Lukla was been built way back past three decades ago, where one can join on this wonderful walks exploring areas of lower Everest within nice and lovely villages of various hill tribes of Mid Eastern Nepal.

Adventure starts with exciting and scenic overland journey from Kathmandu to reach at Jiri a town also known as Switzerland of Nepal, due to its amazing views of landscapes of green hills, valleys and serene alpine woodland with views of snow-capped peaks.

Walks begins further from Jiri heading into more farm villages and nice tended terraces following the path into dense deep woodland of tall rhododendron, pines, oaks, magnolia, birch and fir tree lines then crossing the first high pass over Lamjura at the height of 3,550 m high.

Downhill walk takes you to lovely Sherpa village at Junbesi with views of Numbur peaks as journey continues catch glimpse of high Khumbu Himal with Everest then crossing over Takshindo smaller pass to reach around large Nunthala village.

Where you can explore and observe various cultures of different hill tribes from Sherpa, Rai, Magar, Tamang with Chettries and Brahmin of great mix culture with Hindu and Buddhism that makes this walk a special.

As adventure progress heading higher to reach within Khumbu area where main trails of Lukla and Jiri meets near at Phakding village, from here on scenic popular route to Everest base camp.

Walking into lovely Sherpa villages festooned with religious symbols that decorates the path then entering into Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepal, local Sherpa call as Chomolungma of Tibetan origin language).

Entering into nice lovely pines and rhododendron forest with climb to reach at famous Namche Bazaar where you feel reaching back into civilization as this large village offers various facilities for travelers from banks, stores, shops and nice lodge including hotels.

Namche known for its famous colorful and busy bazaar that takes place once a week on Saturday, at Namche with time to explore its scenery surroundings and view points to catch grand panorama of high peaks with ever present Mt. Everest.

Adventure from Namche Bazaar leads you on scenic trails within cool shade of pine trees with climb to another beautiful spot at Tengboche and the monastery surrounded with array of peaks includes view of Everest and majestic Amadablam.

At Tengboche visit of impressive monastery, where once a year in the month of October or November great religious festival is held called Mani-Rimdu an interesting events to experience during Mani-Rimdu festival times.

After Tengboche walk leads into barren and arid high terrain on leaving the green tree lines for sheer wilderness of high mountains as route finally leads you to our main target of the adventure within world highest peaks at Everest base camp.

Stand and marvel the beauty of surrounding giant peaks at base camp our next adventure takes you high on top Kalapathar the highest point of the trip at above 5,545 m high facing tremendous panorama of mountain views with Everest at close distance.

Enjoying marvelous scenic moments where return walk leads down with few short ups to reach back at Namche and then at Lukla for last overnight halt within high areas of Khumbu and Everest region.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Himalayan Lungta staff and guide for transfer to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city around Thamel the exciting place of the city, on checking your rooms meet at the lobby for group briefing regarding treks and other necessary information.

Morning depart from the hotel where our city guide takes you around great places of interest with tour of world heritage sites, with time in the afternoon preparation for the trek.

Starting early morning for long drive to reach at Jiri where road leads further east of Kathmandu with interesting ride past farm villages and town facing views of Langtang-Jugal Himal with Gaurishankar and Melung-Tse peaks, finally journey reaches at nice town of Jiri for overnight stop.

Enjoy afternoon exploring the market with interesting time observing local traditional custom of eastern hill people, Jiri also known as Switzerland of Nepal which you can witness its green scenery of hills and snow capped mountains.

Another short drive in the morning to reach our trekking point at Bhandar village

journey leads past Shivalaya a lovely farm village located within Gaurishankar Conservation area then reach at Bhandar.

From here walk downhill through farm areas passing farm villages to reach at Kenja village a nice moderate size village, situated in a warm valley just beneath the high hills of Lamjura and Pikey danda, offering views of Numbur peaks. After Kenja, a steep uphill climb all the way to overnight stop at Sete village from here onwards the temperature gets cooler.

Start morning walk to reach over Lamjura-la pass with steep climb in forest of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees and past small farm lands and hamlets, after few hours of climb reaching on top of Lamjura pass marked by a big stupa with few lodges, from the top descend leads through forest all the way to Sherpa village at Toctoc.

After a short stop continue walk on winding path to Junbesi, and then downhill to Junbesi, a lovely large Sherpa village with an interesting monastery and a high school funded by Hillary Trust.

After Junbesi, morning walk on winding uphill trail facing views of Mt. Everest and other snowcapped peaks, where route leads down to a river to cross a bridge, and then with short climb to nice Ringmo village, stopping here for lunch where afternoon climb takes you into forest area to reach at Trakshindo pass above 3,070m high, marked with mani and Chorten facing views of Numbur, Kusum Kangguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks.

From this spot long downhill to reach at Nunthala walk past Takshindo village a village with old monastery, continue descend to reach outskirt of village, and walk for short while to reach large Nuntahla for overnight stop this place also called Manidingma, a village of Rai, Sherpa, Magar and other ethnic hill tribes.

Air gets cooler from here on as walk heads close towards Khumbu area, on leaving Solu region, morning begins with downhill into forest to reach at the bottom of a hill at Dudh Kosi River, crossing over a bridge above Dudh Kosi River then on winding uphill to Jubing village.

After Jubing an hour climb to Khari-khola a large village of Sherpa and Magar tribes, after a short break up hill with steep climb for an hour to overnight stop at Bupsa, a small village perched on a ridge with superb views of rolling hills and valleys.

From Bupsa a slow, steady walk leads to high Khumbu area where temperature drops with cooler air walk continues through mixed alpine forest.

Crossing over Kharte Dande Pass at 3,880 m high, where walk leads high above Dudh Kosi River and then reach at Puiyan (Paya) village, a nice place in the midst of forest.

From Puiyan having lunch walk on winding trail with views of Lukla town and its airstrip, then descends to Surkhe village for overnight stop within Khumbu area.

Morning on nice pleasant trail as route takes close to Lukla at a place called Choplung a small Sherpa village, here trail from Lukla and Jiri meets, from here to Phakding for overnight stop, as walk leads past few villages and farm lands with grand views of hills and valleys then finally reaching at Phakding village by the Dudh Kosi (river) for overnight stop.

Morning walk on pleasant path within alpine woodland of pines and rhododendron trees with views of snow capped peak, walk follows upstream crossing over bridges to enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo.

The park listed in world heritage sites where trail follows to a high bridge and with uphill climb to Namche Bazaar, a wonderful large village, nearly the size of a town with colorful house serves as hotels and lodge.

At Namche Bazaar the last place with facilities of ATM, Banks, post office, Cyber Café, Trekking / Climbing shops and stores with many café, bakeries and restaurants with great views of Kwangde peaks towards south.

Namche Bazaar an ideal spot for rest day and acclimatization at 3,440 meters high before heading higher elevation. Morning after breakfast take short walk to the top of Namche at Park headquarter area with a museum full of information regarding Khumbu / Everest area of Sherpa religions, culture, history, mountaineering to flora and flora.

High hill of Namche offers stunning views of Amadablam, Tharmarserku, Kantega, Kwangde, Khumbila with Mt. Everest and Lhotse towards North, after an impressive morning head back to lodge for lunch with afternoon free to relax and catch up with the dairy and browse around the street of Namche, where once a week Saturday market / bazaar takes place. 

After a pleasant rest day at Namche, morning leads to a short climb and then on nice scenic trail within rhododendron and pine trees with views of Amadablam and Everest.

As walk then descend to Imjatse River at Phunge Tenga, a small place with few tea shops, a favorite lunch stop place.

With refreshing stop, second half of the journey leads to climb for few hours into cool shade of forest to reach on top at Tengboche and the monastery.

A scenic spot with grand views of Amadablam, Kantega, Thamersarkhu, Kwangde and Mt. Everest, a holy spot as the head lama (Rinpoche) of the monastery resides here.

At Tengboche monastery mountaineers also get blessed from high lama (priest) for successful and safe climb.

Morning enjoy panorama of mountains with Everest, after breakfast downhill into nice rhododendron and pines forest, a pleasant walk to reach a bridge over Imja Khola.

From here a slow climb to reach Pangboche village this is a last permanent village on route Everest Base Camp, after Pangboche tree lines ends for short rhododendron and juniper bushes.

Walk slowly leads with views of Mt. Amadablam at close distance, after a nice day trek reaching at Dingboche for overnight stop.

After Dingboche, morning walk follows uphill for an hour and then a nice pleasant trail to Thugla ( Dugla) located on midway where Pheriche and Dingboche path joins towards Everest Base Camp.

Thugla a nice place for lunch break with views of Taboche, Cholatse, Lobuche, Pumori, Amadablam, after lunch a slow and short steep climb up to terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier, where you can notice memorials of unfortunate mountaineers and climbers.

From here a gradual walk to Lobuche for overnight stop in the comfort of a cozy lodge.

Morning starts on gradual path and the walk above Khumbu glacier with views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest, after few hours of good walk reach Gorakshep.

Gorakshep with few nice lodges the last place facilities of overnight accommodation before Everest Base Camp; after a break walk continues to Everest Base Camp climbing over moraine to reach at Everest Base Camp.

Enjoying incredible moment for an hour at base camp within Khumbu Ice fall and glacier, return journey back to Gorakshep for overnight stop after achieving high lights of the trip.

From An early morning climb to reach highest point of the adventure with steep climb for few hours to the top of Kalapathar, a black rocky hill at above 5,545 meters high, offering vista of surrounding high peaks with Mt. Everest at close distance.

After an incredible moment and feeling in high spirit down to Gorakshep and continue trek towards Pheriche windy valley for lunch stop.

Pheriche a temporary settlement near Dingboche with more than 20 lodges and teahouses with grand views of Taboche, Cholatse, Amadablam and as far to

Mt. Cho-Oyu in the distance north west.

From here on easy walk with short ups and down to Pangboche village for overnight stop.

From Pangboche pleasant downhill to a bridge with an hour climb up to Tengboche back within trees lines and green vegetation.

With time at Tengboche retrace the journey back to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop before Lukla.

A pleasant and relaxing walk as route heads back to Lukla on this last day trek of the adventure, with few short climb brings you back to Lukla for last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest and farewell to our loyal and friendly porters.

Flight starts early morning, transfer to Tenzing and Hillary air terminal at Lukla airport on boarding the plane a sweeping flight of 20 minutes brings you at Ramche town airstrip, where exciting drive of 4 hrs reaches you back at Kathmandu and to your respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

A free and spare or contingency day at Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation in Lukla might occurs sometimes due to bad and unfavorable weather conditions, if all goes well on time as our itinerary days, interested people you can book for optional tour around Kathmandu at place of great interest or free for individual activities.

Last day in Nepal with memorable times and experience on high Himalaya, as time for your international flight and then depart from the hotel, where our staff and guide transfers you for your flight homeward bound.
