About Nar Phu Semi Annapurna Circuit Trek

Nar-Phu and Semi Annapurna Circuit trekking leads you marvelous adventure and experience where route leads to higher and above beyond scenic Manang valley one of the few restricted trekking areas of Nepal Himalaya.

Nar-Phu and Semi Annapurna Circuit trekking leads you beyond your imagination certainly a journey of life-time experience walking into hidden country of Northern Annapurna and Chulus peaks.

A high mountain valley of arid and dry landscapes blessed with awesome scenery of high snowcapped peaks of Himlung and Damodar Himal in the north with Chulus and Annapurna due southward.

Where walk leads you around time and weather beaten villages of Nar and Phu where age-old heritage and cultures of Buddhism religions where one can visit its old monasteries of great interest.

Starts with long exciting drive and walking on the same scenic trail of Annapurna circuit for some days, where our route to Nar and Phu diverts from mainstream trekking path to reach wild and beautiful country around Nar and Phu.

Enjoying fabulous time where walk leads to cross high Kang-la to reach back on Annapurna circuit route at Manang village and then head towards the second and last pass above Thorang-la at 5,416 m high to reach around Lower Mustang district at holy spot of Muktinath.

Muktinath located within high area of Mustang above Kaligandaki River Valley, one of the holy spot for Hindu, where pilgrims from all over India and Nepal visits to worship Lord Muktinath (one of many manifestation of God Vishnu).

After Muktinath where scenic and pleasant walk leads to wide Kaligandaki River valley at Jomsom, a large town and headquarter of Mustang area and capital for Thakali the tribe of Kaligandaki valley.

From Jomsom an early morning brings you to lovely city in Pokhara, a leading touristic destination of Nepal Himalaya, blessed with natural beauty of high Annapurna mountain range and serene lakes.

Pokhara a magnificent place where our Nar-Phu and Semi Annapurna Circuit completes after an amazing time and experience around Far North Mid-West Nepal Himalaya.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Himalayan Lungta staff and guide for transfer to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city around Thamel the exciting place of the city, on checking your rooms meet at the lobby for group briefing regarding treks and other necessary information.

Morning depart from the hotel where our city guide takes you around great places of interest with tour of world heritage sites, with time in the afternoon preparation for the trek.

Morning as per group size either in coach or tourist bus and car to reach Nepal Mid West to start our trek, as journey leads through rural farm villages and towns to reach at Besisar, headquarter town of Lamjung district. From here following Marysangdi River to reach rural farm village at Syange for overnight stop in a nice local lodge by the River Marysangdi.

From Syange walk begins heading through rice terraces fields and villages and then with slow climb to Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers. After Jagat village walk leads past many villages of Chamje and Tal-Besi a nice hill area facing views of Manaslu and Lamjung peaks, on reaching at Tal another hour of good to Dharapani village for overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated on the junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

As morning get cooler where walk lead past Dharapani on winding trail in the shade of rhododendron and pine forest as route leads to Bagarchap and Danque and reaching at Timang villages, from here onwards into more Buddhist culture, along with views of Mt. Manaslu, from Timang village few hours trek to Kodo for overnight stop, located close to Chame town, a major town and headquarter of Manang area.

From Kodo where route diverts from Annapurna circuit trail for a week till it joins back on route to Manang village, from Kodo walk towards Phu and Nar as walk leads into a narrow river gorge in-between massive walls of high rock cliffs covered with thick forest of pines and rhododendron trees.

Walk leads past farm huts and sheds and into a gorge formed by the peaks of Pisang Peak and Kangguru Himal where trail lead upstream of Nar-Phu khola (stream).

As journey follows north around remote and isolated areas passing number of scattered small farm hamlets towards Dharmashala a small farm settlement.

Walk continues further north to Phu within complete wilderness, with some chances of spotting few wildlife like Blue sheep, Snow Leopards.

Route leads past several cattle herder’s huts and shades following the river upstream to Meta for overnight stop.

After Mera, morning trek heads to Phu village towards north direction to reach around remote and isolated country within dry and arid terrain, walk continues to reach at Kyang for overnight stop a small place with dozen houses similar to Tibetan culture.

Today walk to Phu village where trail follows on route walking upstream of Phu River for some time and then climb to a gorge then reaching within a wide glacial valley with large pasture area on reaching at Phu, a village of strong Tibetan influence which you can notice its immense culture, traditions of Buddhism religion.

At Phu with rest day to support acclimatization and as well to explore around weather and time beaten villages including visit of Tashilkhang and Samdu Choling Monasteries and walk near Kyauchyu waterfalls at Phu Village.

From Phu village walk on the same trail back for some hour and then descend to a narrow gorge of Phu khola, where climb takes you at Yughat small village with chhorten a Buddhist shrines, then reaching a flat field at Nar Phedi for overnight stop.

Morning walk leads to Phu Khola for few hours to reach a suspension bridge over Phu Khola, crossing the bridge with steep climb for few hours reaching a flat area then walk to Nar village for overnight.

After Nar-Gaon walk to remote areas an interesting walk for few hours and then taking short ups and downs in some rocky and arid path, past cattle herder shelters heading further west following Temdenzon Khola (stream) facing views of snow peaks to reach Kang la pass base for overnight camp at above 4,530 m high.

A great day of the adventure

to cross our first pass of the journey starting early morning facing views of Pisang Peak and Chulus, walk lead to cross a stream on a long bridge and then climb slowly up to a ridge top at Kang la pass 5,322 m.

Second highest point to Thorang-la, Kangla Pass rewards vista of Annapurna huge massif range, Chulus Peaks, Lamjung Himal with Annapurna Himalayan range, after enjoying amazing views, walk downhill past Julu village and then to overnight stop at Ngawal village.

From Kang la pass heading towards Manang area within popular and scenic route of Annapurna circuit trek.

From Ngawal village with views of mountains, from here downhill walk towards flat valley at Hongde village, and then pleasant walk to Manang village as walk follows within scenic trail enclosed with array of mountain range on both sides of the valley.

Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches at Manang village

After a great adventure beyond Manang valley, where morning leads to interesting high altitude walk with views of mountains, crossing small streams to reach at Yak Kharka, a small settlement with glorious close view of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Morning walk heads closer towards Thorang-la as the walk progress to cross a bridge and then a climb along the Jarjung River, that leads at Thorang Phedi for short rest and then climb the last hour uphill to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.

An early morning start having breakfast then with long climb on steep sided and winding ridge towards Thorang-la pass at above 5,416 m / 17,700 ft, the top of Thorang-la festooned with thousands of Buddhist prayer flags.

The top offers super vista of dramatic landscapes with high snowcapped peaks, from here a long descend to Muktinath at 3,800 m.

Muktinath a holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Today an easy morning walks with stunning views of Mustang dry and beautiful landscape as route leads down at Kaligandaki River valley to reach at the bottom of a hill at Eklai Bhatti close on route to Kagbeni village.

From here walk on windy valley to reach at large Jomsom town, a headquarter of Mustang district located on Old Trans Himalaya Salt and Caravan Route of Nepal to Tibet, also the main hub of indigenous Thakali people of strong Buddhism religion and culture.

At Jomsom transfer into a nice hotel or lodge, afternoon free to explore around Jomsom and to witness immense culture and traditions of Thakali people of Lower Mustang and Kaligandaki River Valley.

Morning after breakfast transfer to Jomsom small airport for scenic short flight to land at famous and leading touristic spot of Nepal at Pokhara city for last and final overnight stop around this beautiful city with scenery of Annapurna Mountains and Lake.

Morning an overland journey to reach Kathmandu on leaving Pokhara after breakfast where drive lead on the same interesting highway to reach at Kathmandu and to your hotel, with afternoon free to enjoy your own personal activities.

(Options for scenic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu of 30 minutes)

Last day in Nepal with memorable times and experience on Himalaya, as time for your international flight and then depart from the hotel, where our staff and guide transfers you for your flight homeward bound.

  • Early return from the trips or breaking up the journey due to personal / medical reason clients has to bear extra expenses in Kathmandu or on route with related expenses as there will be no refund from the company in such situation.
